As already described at the beginning, there are, of course, a whole series of other partner programs besides Amazon Partneret, which have different partners as advertisers (advertisers). And as diverse as the range of programs is, so are the conditions for participation and the amount and type of monetization for publishers.
I would like to compare the two most important and largest affiliate partner programs in my opinion and outline some advantages and disadvantages.
If you are affiliated with Amazon’s Affiliate Program, you have several benefits.
Firstly, Amazon is one of the world’s largest online retailers with a maximum variety of products, so that everyone will find it here, and publishers can always present suitable offers on the topic of their site, and on the other hand, Amazon offers from home very convenient tools and even its own Plugin to integrate the partner links on your website.
The payment of advertising revenue can be made both on a bank account, as well as on the personal Amazon credit and redeemed directly through purchases on Amazon.
While the nature of Amazon’s advertising materials is very comfortable on the one hand, it’s easy to embed via an HTML code, but they also have one major drawback. Because they are not prepared for Ad Blocker. What does this mean when a user is on your website using an ad blocker that does not see any offers?
If one considers now that about 30% of users (depending on the user group) in Germany has an ad blocker permanently in use, of course, reduces the opportunities to earn a few euros quite enormous. However, if you opt for an affiliate plugin (which makes perfect sense), you can avoid this risk, as the offers do not come from external servers, but from your webspace when you load your website.
The amount of monetization is actually quite good, and with up to 10% of the revenue generated by a customer, is in some cases significantly higher than what other affiliate programs offer that accommodate many different advertisers on their platform.
As a further small drawback (you could call it also Damocles sword) must be mentioned that when a customer buys a product through your affiliate link on Amazon, and this item then within the statutory return period for distance sales reposted without replacement, your commission also gone.
The type of monetization takes place here as pay per click. What does this mean for every confirmed click on an advertisement you get a share of 67% of the costs the advertiser has to pay. That can ever be several euros per click, but only a few cents.
A big advantage of Google AdSense ads is the possibility of personalization. This is a feature you can use, but you do not have to. But do not use this option, robbing you of one of the biggest benefits of AdSense.
The amount of revenue per click depends on several factors:
- The positioning of the commercials
- The amount of traffic on your website
- The Topic of your website
- The type of display (text / image + text)
- The amount of advertising bids bid on advertisers
The disadvantage (if you like to call it that) of Google AdSense compared to the Amazon affiliate program is, as you may have noticed, the increased amount of time you have to invest in the thing / can.
