Free Amazon Visa card 3% on every purchase
Amazon has been offering its own Visa card for a while now to keep customers loyal to them. There is also always a starting credit note that is charged immediately on the first purchase with the card.
Recently, a new Amazon Prime Visa card is also available, which includes other benefits and even an even higher startup credit, as well as other bonus features. But which map is the right one for whom, and where might lurk hidden costs?
We took a closer look at these maps and took a look behind the scenes.

We took a closer look at these maps and took a look behind the scenes.
1. The Amazon.de Visa Card
1. The Amazon.de Visa Card
The Amazon Visa Card has been around for a few years now, and many have noticed it while shopping at the checkout, which has always been pointed out by what amount the bill would be reduced if you apply for the Visa Card.
Basically, the normal Amazon Visa Card does not look any different from any other Visa card issued by virtually every credit institution, gas stations, and major supermarket chains. All of them always work together with different banks for settlement.
And this is exactly where the big difference in Visa cards can be found on the market.
Depending on which bank operates in the background, interest rates also differ for monthly partial rather than full payments. And of course, the annual fees are to pay attention, which usually only in the 2nd year.
The Amazon Visa Card is for all the happy and more often on Amazon shopping quite suitable because you get here with every purchase on Amazon bonus points. For example, for every euro spent on sales, 2% is credited to the points account, and for sales outside Amazon (for example, grocery shopping, petrol station), it is still 0.5% for every euro.
- Buy at Amazon for 100 euros, get 2 euros in your bonus account (2% of 100 euros)
- If you buy outside of Amazon for 100 euros, you will receive 0.50 euros on the bonus account (0.5% of 100 euros)
So you see the Amazon of course wants you to make as much revenue as possible in your own shop instead of shopping elsewhere. And for the customer, this system also offers some advantages, because depending on what you so distributed over the year everything with the Amazon Visa Card can buy since some euros together, which you then again (how should it be otherwise) on Amazon can redeem at the next purchase, or just collects more points.
As with all financial transactions, you should always look at the total cost and read the terms carefully.
These include the following points:
- The annual fee for the card of 19.99 euros
- Depending on the selected repayment option accrued interest
- fee-based additional services (default insurance)
Especially the latter two points should be kept in focus while you complete the application form for the card, and read everything carefully. For here is set as a default for the repayment 10% of sales per month. You should change this setting to 100%, as the difference between the repayment amount and the remaining amount represents a fee-based loan that LBB (Landesbank Berlin) pays off at just under 15%.
In this way, you quickly get into a cost trap, and the nice bonus points that you have accumulated are so eaten up by the accrued interest right back, or even exceeded and you pay in the end only on it.
In times of low interest rates you get a installment loan which is significantly cheaper than taking the credit card.
So, set the repayment to 100% and simply have your monthly revenue deducted from your checking account. Then you have bypassed this cost trap ever.
Another point is the default insurance (such as unemployment, occupational disability, etc.) which is enabled by default. Again, one should worry about whether something is necessary, because here 0.87% of the average turnover of the last 3 months are due. The more sales you make, the more bonus points you earn, and the higher the insurance premium for the default insurance, so that the bonus would be consumed here as well.
If you pay attention to these two punctures with the repayment and the cancellation insurance, the Amazon Visa Card can also offer you real added value.

2. The Amazon.de Prime Visa Card
2. The Amazon.de Prime Visa Card
With the still relatively new Amazon Prime Visa Card Amazon offers all Prime members a really interesting product, because for Prime members, the card is permanently free, and also offers other benefits such as:
- 70 Euro instead of 50 Euro start credit (will be deducted from the invoice amount at the first purchase)
- 3 bonus points per Euro turnover instead of only 2 points as with the standard card
If you are already a Amazon Prime customer, and in addition to the extensive Prime Video offer also uses the many other benefits (free Next Day / Same Day delivery, Amazon Music, etc.), for the Prime Visa Card is the best choice.
Example:
- 100 Euro turnover on Amazon = 3 Euro on the bonus account
- 100 Euro turnover outside of Amazon = 0,50 Euro on the bonus account
You can only apply for the Prime Visa Card if you are already a Prime Member. And as long as you are a member, the card is also permanently free, and you benefit from the higher bonus points compared to the standard card. If you ever want to end your Prime membership you can keep the Prime Card, but fall back to the standard card level.
What does that mean again with annual fees of 19.99 € p.a. and reduced bonus points are on the way.
Of course, the same applies to the Prime Visa Card in terms of repayment options and additional benefits as for the standard card.
Again, LBB (Landesbank Berlin) stands in the background for the payment transactions, and has put a few small pitfalls with the default settings, which can easily be bypassed (as described above).
The bottom line is that all those who are already prime members, or maybe in the future (just because of the video streaming offer) want the Prime Visa Card is a really good deal, and so in the course of a year – depending on the turnover – save some euros

3. Conclusion
3. Conclusion
With the Amazon Visa cards, many a Euro can accumulate through bonus points, which only redeemable at Amazon, but for those who already feel comfortable in the Amazon cosmos, the card offers (especially in the Prime version) real added value.
Because the Prime Membership Fee of € 69.90 per year will of course be paid for with these cards, and then bring you bonus points right away Account.
With both cards, of course, you can shop not just on Amazon, but wherever Visa cards are accepted, which has now become the standard at the discounters. Also contactless payment, as well as cash withdrawals in the supermarket is as it should be possible. Cash withdrawals are also to be treated with caution, since these are charged in comparison to other Visa cards.
Guaranteed added value you get with the Amazon Visa cards if you:
- Use the cards only for contactless payment and for all purchases on the Internet (especially of course on Amazon)
- Forgo part payments and instead choose 100% repayment with monthly billing
- Avoid cash withdrawals with the card
- Dispense with the cancellation insurance
If you pay attention to these points, the Amazon Visa cards offer added value that other Visa cards do not offer in this scope.
